Our middle school scientists are excited to introduce Pumpkin Jack! Yesterday, Pumpkin Jack started his decomposition journey. Over the next several weeks, students will observe and document how Pumpkin Jack changes as nature breaks him down.
Students will look for signs of decomposition such as color changes, mold growth, soft spots, and shrinking. Through this hands-on investigation, they will learn how decomposers recycle nutrients back into the environment and play an important role in Earth's ecosystems.
